If You Want to Make Your Record a Banger, Put Philly's Lil Uzi Vert on the Beat

DJ Carnage just dropped his new track "WDYW" (short for What Do You Want) featuring A$AP Ferg, Rich the Kid, and the star of the record: Philly's own Lil Uzi Vert. To be clear, the beat is straight crack (and the monster distorted bass line makes us wonder if G.O.O.D. music's Charlie Heat is responsible?) but after listening, one thing is clear: if you want to make your record a banger, put Lil Uzi on it. Straight like that. The young rapper has found a niche for him in the 2015 hip hop landscape. His unique blend of Philly ferocity and a penchant for mashing southern and drill-influenced catchy bars should serve him well going into the new year.  His charisma, a quality almost mandatory if you're going to make it out of Philly hip hop onto the global stage (see: Meek Mill), is clear from the delivery of his pre-chorus & hook on how to basically turn money into, well, more money: What you want? Tell me what you want? Like what you want? Like what do you want? Let a nigga know. Let a nigga know. The instantly memorable hook is perhaps a message to other DJs and artists out there: You want your record to pop? Just let Uzi know. Peep the record and an exclusive chopped-and-screwed version by fellow Philly DJ Fuego Mayo
